“I have loved you,” says the Lord. But you ask, ‘How have you loved us?’
Happy New Year!
While entering a new year is a new opportunity for all of us to move closer to our best selves, it is equally important for us to remember that we are created in the image of God.
This time of year it can be easy for us to focus on all the ways we are deficient-perhaps looking for New Year’s resolutions to better ourselves in one way or another.
While that is certainly never a bad thing to abandon bad habits or self destructive activities-I want to encourage you to also make 2019 a year in which you take time to reflect on all that you have done well.
Take lots of time to focus on the successes you have accomplished.
Take lots of time as we move into 2019 to realize your value and worth just as you are.
Our scripture reading today reminds us of how we can fail to see our blessings as well as our gifts and graces.
I have loved you, says God. I have always loved you, says God; through our good, our bad, and our ugly.
It’s strange to think that we serve a God who loves us no matter who we were or what we’ve done.
I hope that when you look back at your year and look forward to the year yet to come that you are able to see the multitude of ways in which God has been at work in your life. I pray that you are able to see God through both the challenges as well as the triumphs.
I have always loved you, reminds God.
When? We ask.
Always, God gently reminds us.
There are lots of ways to be present to God’s love as we move into the New Year.
Read scripture more and with more intentionality. Get a good devotional that helps you work through scripture every day.
Spend more time talking with God through prayer and meditation.
There are countless ways to feel God’s love in new ways in 2019.
May 2019 be a year in which you feel richly loved by God.
